We all have been trying to convince ourselves that we will be a better version of ourselves. And the way historians narrated the history it seems the world is a better place today. But Does it so? And in the same context what is the meaning of good life?
In the olden days, in the absence of all the contemporary technology humans have to work hard for earning a piece of bread. For instance, people have to wake up early in the morning to reach their workplaces (most probably in their field, as most of our ancestors were peasants.) Here all the historians falsely portrayed human life in history as very struggling or very sweaty. But have they ever surveyed the satisfaction index? or even asked individuals about their satisfaction level?
Let’s do one thought experiment.
There was a girl, who was Engaged in daily chores and also helped her parents on their farm. The whole day she spent and work with her parents, at the macro level she communicates with her dear ones and was able to express what she feels, it helps her to release any kind of anxiety, In addition of that at that time, there were no social media and hence her social circle was also quite small which means she can not compare herself with a world, where we all agree to the fact that less comparison means more self-satisfaction and I believe that this is the supreme key for living in true tranquility.
On the contrary, all the occidental think tanks insist on expanding the social circle in the context of improving the life quality. Similarly, we are working in places which have more than 2 people per square meter, We watch the cinema where there are nine people per square meter. We hang out in the vacations where the places are thronging and we sleep in the apartment where there are more than 200 people and we try to make our own space on such platforms where this traffic can not be measured. In short, we can say that we are more social than ever in history. But, is it optimistic? Does it add value to our life?
