From the standpoint of the environment. The main advantage of pipelines is that, unlike other modes of transportation like railways, trucks, and tankers, they do not leave carbon traces in the environment, which might lead to poor air quality, ozone depletion, and acid rain. They are generally sealed, which reduces their influence on the animal. The sealed nature also results in fewer spillage of extremely volatile substances, lowering the danger of explosion during transport. This dramatically improves the safety of both wildlife and humans.

Now, in terms of efficiency and cost, rail transportation remains highly optimal. Rail has low fixed costs and short construction times, which is advantageous for transporting oil over short distances. There is a significant demand for oil in new locations where pipelines face numerous obstacles; as a result, rail has turned into a noteworthy mode of transportation. Furthermore, rail provides shorter transit time than pipelines, as well as quick changes to delivery sites. Accidents are red flags when moving oil by train. It would not only save money, but it would also be less destructive to the environment because no new virgin land would have to be destroyed. Resulting in the least environmental damage. However keeping both the mode of transportation in mind, for the long term, I would prefer the pipeline mode over the rail mode as there is the least chance of the spillage assuring the public and environment safety. Here we can not gamble our safety for the sake of a little amount of money.
